Eclipse
Eclipse is my current provider, a very good company with no major problems. I think in the year I have been with them the internet has gone down twice for no more than an hour each time, this happens to a lot of providers and isn%u2019t a big problem. The site is quite fast, I connect at about 5Mbs although it can go up to 8Mbs at times. When I first used their service I kept getting disconnected but after speaking to a very helpful advisor I was told that this happens for the first few days. Apparently they start you off at the maximum speed then each time you get disconnected they try you at a slower speed until they find the fastest stable connection.
The cost of this is £15 per month for unlimited broadband and even though there is a fair usage policy with these I can say that I have never had to worry about it. I have used it for all my drivers and the other things I usually download, more so than when first starting with Tiscali and can say there has never been a problem. The only downside is you have to keep paying BT for line rental at just over £10 per month.
Another bonus with this is that you don%u2019t get any useless software with it or software that causes problems such as with AOL. You connect straight to your homepage and go from there.
In short I am still with Eclipse because I have had no reason not to be. They are quite cheap and very reliable and if they could just incorporate the line rental into their costs and maybe lower them a bit more then I don%u2019t think I would ever change providers. Very good company to use.
Next we will look at AOL who are one of the best known providers.
